Hello everyone.
I’ve finished the Lakehouse Blanket I’ve been making for a friend of mine!
I created it based on my Classic 2-Tone Baby Blanket pattern. But instead of using 2 strands of DK yarn, I used a chunky yarn, and I casted on more stitches in order to make it adult sized.
I won’t share with you though the name of the yarn I used because it was awful to work with and I wouldn’t recommend it; it unraveled as I knit. UGH! I adore the colourway, but not the yarn.
If you would like to create one for yourself, here’s the pattern:
Approximately 1400 yards of a chunky yarn.
US size 10.5 circular needles. These are used to hold the stitches only as the piece is knit flat.
Cast on 150 stitches.
Knit every row for 20 rows.
Row 21 – knit the first 12 stitches, purl the next 126 stitches, knit the last 12 stitches.
Row 22 – knit across the entire row.
Repeat rows 21 and 22 (alternating between the two) until your blanket measures about 50″ in TOTAL. This will give you a garter stitch border and a stockinette stitch centre.
Once you are at about 50″, knit every row for 20 rows casting off on the 20th row.
The approximate finished size will be 42″ x 54″.
Now off to finish the 2 baby blankets for co-workers and then I really need to focus on finishing up some patterns!
If you give this blanket a try, I would love to see it. Feel free to send any photos to diana.poirier@yahoo.ca.
Happy knitting.

How frustrating Diana! But nonetheless, good on you to have persevered. It is gorgeous! I am still working on your shawl pattern…I might only finish it next fall at this rate! Cheers from Ottawa!

Hi there. Any chunky yarn should work well for this blanket. Happy knitting!
