the cotton dish cloth…

Hi everyone!

I was so excited to have learned a couple of new knitting patterns the other day, I really wanted to make myself something using one of them.

Since I had some cotton left over from when I made my dish towels, and everyone I talk to always says how much they love their handmade cotton dish cloths, I thought I would make one for myself!

Here it is.

It’s a great pattern for a dish cloth because of it’s texture.

I’m absolutely in LOVE with this pattern so you can be sure  I’ll incorporate it into a ton of other projects!

Now back to knitting!! 😀

Happy knitting!

Knitting away…

Hey there!

I’ve been knitting away today!

I got another dish towel done for a co-worker and only have 1 more to do!! Whew! Maybe the next time I’m in a knitting frenzy I’ll try to hold off offering to make something for EVERYONE I work with! 😉

I also got another project started today.  I decided to try and knit a new floor mat for the upstairs bathroom.  The one I bought when we moved in is starting to look somewhat ratty.

It’s difficult when you’re not following a pattern to know exactly how much yarn you will need.  I estimated for this project 6 balls, but when I started knitting and saw that 1 ball only gave me just over 4″ in length, I needed to order 2 more balls.  It’s going to be one expensive floor mat at $6.50 per ball!!! LOL!!

I also ordered this stuff called “Sock Stop”.  It’s used to put on the bottom of socks so they aren’t slippy on slippery floors.  I’m going to put it on the back of my floor mat when I’m done so that it secures to the floor.  I ordered 2 bottles.  Hopefully that’s enough!

I’m knitting the floor mat using the Ringwood stitch.  Here’s a sneak peek.

Well, off to try and get this mat done.  I’ll share when I’m finished!

Happy knitting.

A tower of towels…

Good afternoon everyone!

So I’ve completed all the towels for my co-workers.

I really hope they love using them as much as I love using mine!

If you’d like to make your own dish towel, you can find my pattern here.

I still have to make one more towel using a  new pattern I created, but since I’ve made so many towels lately, I’ve started another project to mix things up a bit.

Here’s a sneak peek.

Once I’m done this project, I’ll be offering the pattern for free so stay tuned! 😀

Well, off to get this finished and the pattern written.

Happy knitting!

A new pattern…almost

Hi there!

I’ve finished the dish towel for myself, BUT…it didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it to.  For the stripes, I used a light cream cotton and a light grey cotton and I don’t think there’s enough contrast in the colours.  I would like to see more contrast.

Sooo, I’ll be adjusting the pattern a bit that I wrote and making another towel to showcase it.

I promise once this is done, I’ll share the pattern.

In the meantime, here’s my new towel.

Happy knitting!

Another dishtowel…

Hello there!

I’ve completed another dish towel.

This is for one of the girls at work.  Her kitchen walls are a mustard colour and I was able to find a beautiful mustard coloured cotton yarn by Rico over at loveknitting.com!

I’ve also started another dishtowel for myself.  I’ll be writing a pattern for it too, so I’ll let you know when it’s available!

Well off to finish my dishtowel and get that pattern written.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Happy knitting!

Dish towel set…

Hi there!

I’m finished the second dish towel in my set.

I used the same colours as in my first towel, but reversed them.

I didn’t have enough of the dark brown cotton yarn left to make a full third stripe, so I just knit 2 rows instead of the eight that the pattern calls for.  I still really like how it turned out.

For these towels, I used Rico Creative Cotton yarn available over at loveknitting.com. It’s easy to work with and washes up beautifully!

Off to make more dish towels, but this time for the girls at work!

Happy knitting!
