And I’m done…

Hi everyone!

I’m done! I’ve finished my first cushion cover!

I’m just thrilled with how it turned out! And I was even able to match up the pattern on the seams!

If you want to make one of your own, you can click here to see the pattern.

I’ve decided to make more cushion covers for the cushions on my couch, but in different stitches for variety (I’ve already started the second one!) so I will post those when I’m done too.

But right now I’ve off to sew up my husband’s socks.  I also finished those yesterday and he mentioned he would like them for the weekend!

Happy knitting!

Cushion covers…

Hello everyone!

Well, I’m almost done knitting my first cushion cover and I’m loving how it’s turning out!  I’m using the classic basket weave pattern.

I’m hoping to have it all done by tomorrow so stay tuned.  I’ll post the finished product AND my pattern!

Happy knitting!

Now that Christmas is over…

Hello everyone!

Now that the Christmas knitting rush is over, I finally have time to finish up some projects I started last summer.

I was on a HUGE blanket knitting kick when I first learned how to knit and I still have 2 left to finish. So, I thought I would finish the one that is most complete.

I’m using a very chunky yarn, big needles and an easy pattern so I should finish it quickly.

Click here for the blanket pattern I used.  I have made 5 other blankets with this pattern because it’s just so easy.

Below is one of my completed blankets using this pattern.

For this yellow and grey blanket, I pretty much followed the pattern only modifying how many colours I used.

For the blanket I’m now finishing up, I switched out the 2 worsted weight yarns for the 1 super chunky weight yarn and size 15 needles.

Well off to finish up my blanket.  It’s suppose to get really cold next week and I want to be ready!

Happy knitting!

Hello and welcome…

Hi there  and welcome to Peartree Knitting where I’ll be sharing all my cozy creations!

I posted a pair of socks on my personal Facebook page recently and had a bunch of people ask for the pattern, so I thought that would be the first pattern I share.  This is not your typical sock pattern that is knit in the round using double pointed needles.  For this pattern you knit with straight needles! That’s my kind of knitting!! 😉

I modified the pattern to fit my size 8 foot (the author describes quite clearly how to do this) and I decided I would knit a pair at one time – 2 socks on one needle!  What I like about doing this, is you get 2 socks that are exactly the same size and when you’re done, you’re done 2 socks.  Unlike knitting in the round where once you complete 1 sock, you still need to knit the second one.  Also, I didn’t have any worsted weight (4) yarn at home, so I used a DK (3) yarn and double knit it.  So I had 4 balls of yarn going at one time.

Keep in mind these are house socks and not socks you can wear in a pair of shoes or boots.  I suppose you could modify the pattern to use a lighter yarn and smaller needles to create a thinner sock, but I haven’t tried that yet.

Click here for the sock pattern. If you mouse over the bubble beside the highlighted areas, you’ll see my notes to create a pair of women’s size 8 socks.

So I hope you give these socks a try! I have mine on today and they are keeping my feet toasty on this very chilly day!

Happy knitting!
