I’m finished…

Hey there!

I finished my mock cable cushion cover!

It ended up a bit shorter than my other cushion covers I knitted, but once the cushion was put in and I sewed it up, it looked just fine.

I used 2 balls (320 yards each) of DK yarn.  I double knit using 2 strands of yarn at one time and used US size 9 single pointed needles. I casted on 62 stitches and followed the mock cable pattern until I came pretty much to the end of my yarn.

The yarn that I used (and use for just about every project I make!) is Stylecraft Special DK and I purchase it on line at loveknitting.com.

The mock cable pattern was written out in an earlier post.  You can click here to find it!

I was going to start my second matching cushion cover today, but I just found out one of my co-workers is getting married at the end of April and I want to make her a little something.  I will share it once it’s finished!

Happy knitting!

A new stitch pattern…

Hi there!

It’s really snowing and blowing here today so it’s a great day to knit! Well, really every day is a great day to knit, LOL, but more so when the weather is yucky!!

In my last post, I mentioned I wanted to knit some new cushion covers for the throw cushions in my bedroom and wanted something that had a lot of texture.  So, I pulled out my knitting books and found this super easy mock cable stitch!!

DSCN2715

For this stitch pattern, I needed to learn a couple of things I didn’t know – “yo” (yarn over needle) and “psso” (pass slipped stitch over).  You may have already come across these techniques in other knitting patterns, but I never had.  So, I googled them and found some really good YouTube videos that showed me how to do them.

I really like this stitch pattern, so below I have written it out so you can try it too!

Mock Cable

Cast on a multiple of 4 plus 2.

Row 1 (WS): K2, *p2, k2, rep from * across row
Row 2: P2, *k1, yo, k1, p2, rep from * across row
Row 3: K2, *p3, k2, rep from * across row
Row 4: P2, *sl 1, k2, psso both k sts, p2, rep from * across row

Repeat rows 1-4 for pattern.

Happy knitting!

They’re done…

Hi everyone!

I’m done the 2 other pairs of slippers I was a making for a couple of girlfriends.  I delivered them today so I can share some photos without ruining the surprise!

DSCN2672

The slippers above were double knit using teal and lemon yellow yarn and for the slippers below I used dark purple and lemon yellow.  The yarn I used is Stylecraft Special DK and I purchase it on-line at loveknitting.com. They have such a large selection and the yarn is excellent quality.

These slippers are super easy and fast to make.

You can find the pattern here!

Now I’m off to finish an infinity scarf I was asked to make and maybe take a nap! Everyone here at my house has a cold and no one slept well last night! Well, maybe the puppy did!! LOL!!

Happy knitting!

Cold weather = Gramma Slippers…

Hey there!

I knew it was going to be super cold this weekend so I thought I would treat myself to some cozy slippers!  They only took me 1 day to complete.  You could have them done sooner if you have no interruptions but we just got a new puppy so I’m interrupted constantly!! LOL!!

DSCN2658

DSCN2657The slippers are knit using two different colours of yarn at one time.  You can find the pattern by clicking here.  I added some pom poms on mine.  I thought they made the slippers super cute!

I’m in the process of knitting a couple of more pair for some friends so I’ll post photos of those too when I’m finished.

Happy knitting!

To infinity and beyond…

I’m finished!

I’m all done the infinity scarf for my girlfriend and having never had an infinity scarf before, I’m thinking I’m going to make one for myself!! 😀

DSCN2623

This one measures 10″ wide and is super SUPER cozy!

DSCN2629

I’ve created a pattern for it, so if you’re looking for an easy project, make sure you check it out. Click here for the pattern.

It’s suppose to be really cold this weekend, so if you start your scarf today, you can be done by tomorrow! Honestly! 😉

Keep warm everyone and happy knitting!

Coming along…

Hello there!

So the hat my girlfriend asked me to knit for her is done!

DSCN2619

And her infinity scarf is half way done!

DSCN2620

The hat was double knit using a parchment coloured DK yarn and I added a cream coloured pom-pom.  So wanting to make the infinity scarf co-ordinate with the hat, I used the same yarn colours, adding a band of cream to the parchment scarf, and used the same stitch on both (garter stitch).

My girlfriend requested the infinity scarf be wide and it is, measuring 1o”! It’s going to be one big, cozy scarf! I’ll post more photos when I’m done!

If you would like to knit your own hat while waiting for me to finish the scarf, you can find the pattern here.  It’s really super easy and you’ll be done in no time!

Happy knitting!

2 of 3…

Hi everyone!

I’ve completed cushion 2 of 3 I wanted to do.

DSCN2568

I used the garter stitch for this cushion and 3 different colours to create this affect. I knit using 2 strands of DK yarn at one time.

The grey is the main colour. I mixed black with the grey for the bottom section and then white with grey for the top.

I cast on 60 stitches using size 9 US needles and knit a 5″ black/grey section, then a 20″ white/grey section and finished with another 5″ black/grey section for a total of a 30″ piece.  When you fold the piece in half, the sections will meet up making both sides the same.

This piece will cover a 16″ X 16″ cushion.

You can click here for the pattern.

Here are the two cushions I’ve done so far.

DSCN2575

And here’s a sneak peek of the 3rd cushion!!

DSCN2588

I can’t wait to share this one with you!!

I hope everyone has a super weekend.

Happy knitting!

And I’m done…

Hi everyone!

I’m done! I’ve finished my first cushion cover!

DSCN2527

I’m just thrilled with how it turned out! And I was even able to match up the pattern on the seams!

DSCN2525

If you want to make one of your own, you can click here to see the pattern.

I’ve decided to make more cushion covers for the cushions on my couch, but in different stitches for variety (I’ve already started the second one!) so I will post those when I’m done too.

But right now I’ve off to sew up my husband’s socks.  I also finished those yesterday and he mentioned he would like them for the weekend!

Happy knitting!

Now that Christmas is over…

Hello everyone!

Now that the Christmas knitting rush is over, I finally have time to finish up some projects I started last summer.

I was on a HUGE blanket knitting kick when I first learned how to knit and I still have 2 left to finish. So, I thought I would finish the one that is most complete.

DSCN2385

I’m using a very chunky yarn, big needles and an easy pattern so I should finish it quickly.

Click here for the blanket pattern I used.  I have made 5 other blankets with this pattern because it’s just so easy.

Below is one of my completed blankets using this pattern.

For this yellow and grey blanket, I pretty much followed the pattern only modifying how many colours I used.

For the blanket I’m now finishing up, I switched out the 2 worsted weight yarns for the 1 super chunky weight yarn and size 15 needles.

Well off to finish up my blanket.  It’s suppose to get really cold next week and I want to be ready!

Happy knitting!

The hooded scarf…

Hi everyone!

The other day I shared a sneak peek of a project I was working on and here’s the finished product.

DSCN2332

It’s a hooded scarf!

I’m not much of a hat wearer, but on some days I do need something to cover my head, so I was looking around Pinterest and I found pictures of hooded scarves! I figured those wouldn’t be too hard to make, so I came up with my own simple pattern.  Click here for the pattern.

I used 3 balls of bulky yarn (Loops & Thread “Charisma” available at most Michaels stores) and size 13 needles, but you can use whatever yarn you have in your stash and just modify the pattern accordingly.

It only took a couple of days to complete and I got it done just in time for the cold weather today!

DSCN2319

DSCN2320

And now to finish my fingerless gloves to go with it!

Happy knitting!
