Third cushion cover in the collection…

Hello there.

So here’s the start of the third cushion cover in the “Seaside” collection.

I’ll be writing a pattern for this cushion cover also.  It’s going to be FREE so stay tuned!! 😀

I have a long drive into work now that we’ve moved, and I’ve been very inspired by some wildflowers I’ve seen growing along the sides of the county roads.

Here’s the colour palette of my next collection of cushion covers.

I have ideas in my mind of how I would like the cushions covers to look, but I don’t know yet how to bring my ideas to life, but I’ll figure it out!!

Off to finish this last cushion cover so I can get started on the new collection.

Happy knitting!

Yes! I’m knitting…

Hi there!

I know it’s been a LONG time since I posted anything, but yes, I’m still knitting!!  😀

I’m working on a baby blanket (I love knitting baby blankets!) and I have written another pattern that I’m just finishing up.

The baby blanket is a modified version of another pattern I’ve written. dscn4144For this blanket, I’m using size 8 US circular needles and 1 ball of Caron Simply Soft yarn in light blue and 3 balls of Caron Simply Soft yarn in Country Blue.  It’s going to be more of a crib blanket really, measuring about 40″ X 48″.

I casted on 180 stitches of the light blue yarn and knit 10 rows and then on the 11th row, I knit the first 6 stitches and then purled across the row and knit the last 6 stitches.

On the next row, I knit across the entire row.

Now alternate the rows with one row of knitting the first 6 stitches, purling across the row and knitting the last 6 stitches and one row of knitting across the entire row.  This creates a stockinette stitch with a garter stitch border.

I knit the entire ball of the light blue yarn and changed the colour on the same side as my cast on tail.  I will use the full 3 balls of the country blue yarn.

Remember when you are coming close to the end of your last ball of yarn, to leave enough yarn to knit 10 rows to create your garter stitch border.

Well off to finish the blanket.  The baby boy is due February 14th and it would be nice to give it to the parents BEFORE he is born!

Happy knitting!

Christmas gifts…

So, I have a couple of Christmas presents done! Whew!!

dscn4015

I have been trying to get my gifts done in between finishing up a large corporate chocolate order.

These hats were created using a “knit 3, purl 3” pattern.  I used 2 strands of DK yarn at one time so you will need 2 balls of yarn of about 50 yards each.  Double knitting makes them ultra warm. Cast 69 stitches onto US size 9 needles and continue with the knit 3, purl 3 ribbing pattern until the hat is 8″ long.

Once at 8″, the next row you will knit 2 stitches together across the row and knit the last stitch.  Then the next row, purl every stitch and the last row knit 2 stitches together across the row.

When you’re done, cut a tail of about 15″ and thread it through a darning needle.  Lift the stitches off your knitting needle and onto the darning needle, pull tight so the top comes together and sew it up using the invisible stitch.  Tie the two ends together at the bottom and weave them in and your done!

As super quick and simple project!

Happy knitting!

now down to 3…

I’m happy to say I’ve completed ANOTHER of my projects!

The cute little beanie and bunting bag I was commissioned to make is now done!

dscn3507

I’ve written a pattern for it so you can make one too! It’s super easy since it’s knit on straight needles and uses only knit and purl stitches.  PERFECT for the beginner knitters!!

Click here for the pattern!  You will be re-directed to the loveknitting.com website.

Baby blanket…

Hi there!

I’m just stopping by to share with you a baby blanket I made.

I’ll be making a few of them to send to my hometown’s hospital Neonatal department.  A friend back home asked on Facebook if anyone could help and I said I would.

I love making baby blankets, but the opportunity doesn’t arise too often so I jumped at the chance to make some for the hospital.

You can click here for the free pattern.

I used Stylecraft Special DK yarn in Lemon and Meadow green.  I double knit the blanket using 2 strands of yarn at one time to make it super cozy.  You can purchase the yarn over at loveknitting.com.

Happy knitting!

It consists of your basic ribbing (knit 1, purl 1)and the garter stitch (knitting every row).  I used 2 strands of DK yarn at one time to make it extra cozy.

My slipper pattern…

Hello there.

I would love to be able to tell you I’m done my slippers (try #2) and they turned out exactly how I wanted. And that I’ve finished writing the pattern and it’s ready to share it with you. But, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.

My second attempt at my slipper pattern was a dud so it’s back to the drawing board AGAIN for me.

DSCN3157

They are still too small but didn’t feel quite snug enough.

DSCN3158

I’m going to put the slipper re-do on the back burner for now though as I’m working on another project I’m hoping to get done for September.  Yes, September! I know that’s a couple of months away, but it’s a big project and will take that long to complete!

I do, however, need a new pair of slippers so I’m going to knit up a pair using the Gramma Slipper pattern.  You can find the pattern here.

Happy knitting!
