Modern slippers…

Well these certainly aren’t your Gramma’s slippers! LOL!! These ones are simple and sleek and easy to knit!

20200729_130029

They are knit flat in one piece then sewn together.

Here’s the pattern for them if you want to make a pair, or 3 πŸ˜‰ for yourself. They will fit most average adult feet. To make them larger or smaller, either increase or decrease your stitches by 5.

MATERIALS:

US size 9 straight needles

About 70 yards of chunky weight yarn for BOTH slippers (about 32-35 yards for one).

DIRECTIONS:

Cast on 30 stitches. (If you want, you could knit 2 at one time!)

Knit 22 rows.

Cast off 12 stitches then knit the remaining 17 stitches on your left needle (there will be 1 stitch on your right needle).

Knit 12 rows.

On your next row, knit your 18 stitches then cast on 12 stitches using the single cast on method.

Knit 21 rows.

Cast off.

Working inside out, using a piece of yarn about 24″ long, thread a darning needle, tie the end, pick up all the stitches on the toe of the slipper and gather it together loosely. Then seam the toe, bottom and heel. Turn right side out, and they’re ready to wear! πŸ˜€

I used Red Heart Soft Essential yarns for my slippers.

Well I hope you get a chance to make a pair! They’re the perfect quick project and great great for using up your scrap yarn!

Happy knitting!

Baby blanket #6…

Hey everyone!

So I’ve completed baby blanket number 6!

20200714_114037

I’ve decided to give the baby blanket making a bit of a break (it will be hard as I LOVE making baby blankets), but I’ve been making SO many of them lately!

This one was made with the super soft Red Heart Soft Essentials yarn – 2 balls of each colour. It’s one of my absolute favourite yarns for baby blanket making.

20200714_114053

I saw this pattern on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. Adding a border would have been better as the edges really curled because it’s mostly a stockinette stitch. I should have known this would happen but wasn’t thinking ahead I guess. I’m going to leave it as it is though because it gives the blanketΒ  some character. πŸ˜‰

So, off to start a new project! LOL!

I think I’ll make some cushion covers. I haven’t done that in a while!

Happy knitting.

Recent projects…

Hello everyone!

Most of you who follow my blog know I’m a lover of making blankets πŸ˜€ and today I wanted to share a couple of my COMPLETED projects.

For this beauty below, I used 4 balls of Lion Brand Mandala Tweed yarn in “Rainbow”.Β  I created the wonderful, soft blend of colours by knitting 2 strands of yarn together.

And for the grey and white blanket, I used 6 balls of Red Heart Soft Essentials yarn – 3 balls of white and 3 balls of grey.

The corner to corner blanket pattern is my absolute favourite for baby blankets!

And, of course, I have 2 other blankets on the go right now! πŸ˜‰ The ones I’m currently making are couch blankets for my house.

I’ll share photos when they’re done.

I hope you are all staying safe and well.

Happy knitting!

Tri-coloured Diagonal Garter Stitch blanket…

Hello there.

A couple of days ago I posted a picture of a baby blanket on my Instagram account and on my Facebook page.

IMG_20191224_120428_450

Since posting it, I’ve had a few people ask me for the pattern, so I decided to write it out for you.

You will need approximately 750 yards of bulky yarn. I used Red Heart Soft Essentials – 250 yards of each colour or 2 balls of each colour if using the Red Heart Soft Essentials.

Cast on 6 stitches with your first colour using US size 10 circular needles.

The blanket is knit flat but you will need the circular needles to hold all the stitches.

Knit across all 6 stitches for 3 rows.

On the fourth row, knit 3 stitches, yarn over, knit the rest of the stitches in the row.

Continue with the fourth row until you have knit all of your first colour and 1 ball of your second colour.

You will now begin decreasing your stitches.

Knit the first 2 stitches, knit the next 2 stitches together, yarn over, knit 2 stitches together, then knit the rest of the stitches across the row.

NOTE: When you change to your third colour, make sure you make the change on the SAME side as your previous colour change.

Continue decreasing until you have 6 stitches on your needle, then knit all the 6 stitches for 3 rows and cast off.

The finished size is approximately 36″ x 36″.

Using the bulky yarn for this blanket makes it super cushy and soft.Β  Perfect for that baby or toddler in your life!

If you decide to make one, I’d love to see it! πŸ˜€

It was so fun to make…

Hey everyone!

The Sherbrooke Scarf was SO fun to make, I had to make a second one!

For this one, I used a denim blue instead of the dark grey and added golden yellow pom poms instead of the bright pink!

I could make these scarves all day!

Would anyone like one? LOL!! I need a reason to make some more! πŸ˜€
